How do you restore purchases?

If you already paid for Sporta's premium access and the app is not recognizing it, for example after reinstalling or moving to a new iPhone, restore it from inside the app:

  1. Open Sporta and tap the Profile tab.
  2. In the settings list, under Membership, tap Restore Purchases.
  3. Wait for the message that follows.

"Your purchases were restored." means you are all set. "No previous purchases were found for this Apple ID." usually means the device is signed in to a different Apple Account from the one that made the purchase, or that the subscription is no longer active. Check which account is signed in to the App Store, and whether Sporta still appears in your Subscriptions list, then try again. "Couldn't restore purchases. Check your connection and try again." points to a network problem.

How do you cancel a subscription?

Sporta's subscription is billed and managed by Apple, so you cancel it in your device settings rather than in the app:

  1. Open the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad.
  2. Tap your name at the top.
  3. Tap Subscriptions.
  4. Tap Sporta, then Cancel Subscription, and confirm.

If you are a subscriber, the Profile tab in Sporta also shows a Manage Subscription row that opens the same Apple screen. In general, when you cancel an App Store subscription you keep access until the next billing date, and it does not renew after that.

Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription, and neither does deleting your Sporta account. If Sporta does not appear in your Subscriptions list, the purchase was probably made with a different Apple Account.

How do you get a refund?

All purchases in Sporta go through Apple. The developer never sees your payment details and cannot issue, approve or process refunds.

To ask for one, go to Apple's Report a Problem site at reportaproblem.apple.com and sign in with the Apple Account you used to buy. Choose the option to request a refund, pick your reason, select the Sporta purchase and submit. Apple reviews the request and makes the decision.

What if you cannot sign in?

Sporta requires Sign in with Apple or Sign in with Google. There is no separate email and password.

  • Use the same method you signed up with. Your account and your Vault are tied to the sign-in method you first used. If you signed up with Apple and later choose Google, or the other way around, you can end up in a separate, empty account or see a sign-in error. Sign out and sign back in with the original method.
  • Not sure which one you used? The Profile tab shows the name and email that came from your sign-in provider. A Google account usually shows your Google profile photo, while an Apple sign-in shows a gold monogram instead.
  • Chose "Hide My Email" with Apple? Your profile then shows a private relay address from Apple instead of your real email. That is normal, and it means you should keep using Sign in with Apple.
  • Vault looks out of date? Pull down on the Profile tab to re-sync your collection, and check that you have an internet connection.
  • Sign-in sheet fails or closes? Check your connection, make sure your device is signed in to the Apple Account or Google account you want to use, and try again.

How do you delete your account?

  1. Open Sporta and tap the Profile tab.
  2. Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account, just below Sign Out.
  3. Read the warning and confirm. With an Apple sign-in you confirm with Apple to finish; with Google you may be asked to confirm with Google.

Deleting your account is permanent. It deletes your account, your Vault and every card in it, and your saved scan photos, and it cannot be undone.

If you subscribe, cancel in the Settings app first, as described above, because removing your account or the app leaves Apple billing in place. If you only want to leave the app for a while, use Sign Out instead: your account and Vault stay intact, and you can sign back in later with the same method.

How do you get a better scan?

  • Use soft, even light. Daylight from a window or a lamp bounced off a wall works well. Avoid a bare overhead bulb, which puts a glare spot on glossy cards.
  • Use a plain, dark background. A dark surface makes the card's edges easy for the camera to find.
  • Fit the front inside the frame. The app asks you to "Make sure the front fits inside the frame." Hold the phone parallel to the card, not at an angle.
  • Add the back. The app asks for it next: "Two photos = better results." Card number, copyright year and, on most cards, the set name are printed there, and they are what pin down the exact release.
  • Sleeves, top loaders and slabs are fine. You do not need to take a card out of its penny sleeve, top loader or grading slab. Wipe the plastic and tilt the card slightly if a glare streak crosses the text.
  • Scan one card at a time. Sporta does not scan several cards from a single photo.
  • Stay online. Scanning does not work offline; check Wi-Fi or mobile data if a scan stalls.

Sporta covers baseball, basketball, football, soccer and hockey cards. It does not identify Pokémon, Magic: The Gathering or other trading card games.

What does "Similar Match" mean?

A Similar Match means Sporta found a close card in its catalog but is not certain it is yours. It shows a match percentage and asks "Is this the right card?" Tap yes only when the suggested set, card number and finish all agree with your card, because the value and sales history that follow belong to whichever card you accept. If anything is off, rescan in softer light with the back included.

What does "not in our catalog yet" mean?

The full message reads "Identified by AI — not in our catalog yet, so there's no live market value." It means the identification worked but the catalog has no entry with sales data for that card, so Sporta shows no value rather than guess one. You still get the player, set, year and card number to use as search terms for your own sold-listing research.

Why can the AI grade change between scans?

The AI grade is an estimated pre-grade from photo analysis, not an official grade, so it depends on the photo. Glare, shadows, a tilted phone or a scuffed holder can all move the centering, corners, edges or surface scores. For the most consistent reading, scan in the same soft light, straight on, with the card square in the frame.

How do you change your currency?

  1. Open Sporta and tap the Profile tab.
  2. Under Preferences, tap Default Currency.
  3. Choose USD, EUR, GBP, CAD, AUD or JPY.

Values are converted using daily exchange rates. That means a value shown in your currency can move a little from one day to the next as rates change, even when no new sales have come in. Pulling down on the Profile tab also refreshes the latest rates.

Which devices does Sporta support?

Sporta runs on iPhone with iOS 26.0 or later and iPad with iPadOS 26.0 or later. The App Store also lists Macs with Apple silicon (M1 or later) running macOS 26.0 or later. The app is in English. There is no Android version and no web version. Sporta is free to download; further use is available through in-app purchases, shown inside the app.

For a tour of every screen, see the Sporta app guide. How your data is handled is covered in the privacy policy, and the rules for using the app are in the terms of use.

How do you contact support?

Email denw3n@gmail.com, or tap Contact Us under Support on the Profile tab to start an email from the app.

To get a quick, useful answer, include:

  • your device model and iOS or iPadOS version
  • the Sporta version, shown at the bottom of the Profile tab
  • whether you sign in with Apple or Google
  • what you were doing when the problem happened, with a screenshot if you can

Never send your Apple or Google password, or any payment card details. Refunds are handled by Apple, so for a refund use Report a Problem as described above.
