Terms of Use
Effective date:
These terms are the agreement between you and Joseph AG., the developer of the Sports Card Scanner - Sporta app ("Sporta"), called "we" or "us" below. They cover the app and the website trysporta.com. Read them together with our Privacy Policy, which explains what happens to your information.
The short version
- You sign in with Apple or Google, and you are responsible for what happens on your account.
- Apple handles billing, renewals and refunds for every purchase. The developer cannot issue refunds.
- Card identification can be wrong, values are estimates from market data, and the AI grade is an estimate from photos that is not an official grade.
- You keep your rights in your card photos and your collection. You let us process them only to run Sporta for you.
- Sporta is not affiliated with any league, team, player, card manufacturer or grading company.
- If something goes wrong, email us first and we will try in good faith to sort it out.
Accepting these terms
Please read these terms before you start. By downloading, installing or using Sporta, or by browsing trysporta.com, you agree to them. If you don't agree, don't use the app or the site.
Other companies' terms apply alongside ours. Your use of the App Store, including how Apple bills you, is governed by Apple's own terms and conditions, and signing in with Apple or Google is governed by that company's terms.
Your license to use Sporta
We grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable license to download Sporta and use it on Apple devices that you own or control, as the App Store's usage rules allow. You are free to use what the app shows you in your own collecting, buying, selling and grading decisions.
The license does not allow you to:
- copy, modify, translate or build derivative versions of the app or any part of it;
- reverse engineer or decompile the app, or try to extract its source code, except where the law expressly permits it;
- remove or alter any copyright, trademark or other notice;
- rent, sell, sublicense or redistribute the app;
- use the Sporta name, logo or other trademarks as your own.
We recommend that you don't jailbreak the device you run Sporta on. Removing the software restrictions Apple builds into iOS and iPadOS can weaken the device's security, and Sporta may not work properly on a modified system.
Who can use Sporta?
You may use Sporta if you are old enough to enter a binding agreement where you live, or if a parent or legal guardian accepts these terms for you and supervises your use. The app is rated 4+ on the App Store, but it is not directed at children under 13, so younger collectors should use it through a parent's own account and device.
You also need an Apple or Google account, and those companies set their own age requirements. You must not be barred from using the app under the laws that apply to you, including sanctions and export control laws.
Your account
Sporta requires an account, created with Sign in with Apple or Google Sign-In; there is no separate Sporta password to manage. Your Vault is linked to that account, which is why signing in again with the same method brings your collection back on a new device. Purchases are made through the Apple Account signed in to the App Store on your device.
You are responsible for activity on your account and for keeping both your device and your Apple or Google sign-in secure. Use only your own account, and never sign in as someone else. If you think someone has accessed your account without permission, tell us promptly at denw3n@gmail.com.
You can sign out whenever you like, and your collection stays in place for when you return. Deleting your account is a separate, permanent step described under suspension and termination below.
In-app purchases and subscriptions
Sporta is free to download. Further use is available through in-app purchases, shown inside the app, including an auto-renewing premium subscription managed by Apple. Before you pay, Apple's purchase sheet shows what you are buying, what it costs in your local currency and, for a subscription, how often it renews.
- Billing. Payment is charged to your Apple Account (Apple ID) when you confirm the purchase.
- Automatic renewal. A subscription renews automatically for the same period unless you turn off auto-renewal at least 24 hours before the current period ends. Your Apple Account is charged for the renewal within the 24 hours before the period ends.
- Introductory offers. If an introductory offer is available, its terms are shown on Apple's purchase sheet before you confirm. Unless you cancel before the offer ends, the subscription then renews at its regular rate.
- Price changes. If a subscription price goes up, Apple notifies you before the change applies, under its own rules.
We may change which features are included without charge and which require a purchase. Any charge is shown to you before you agree to it.
| What you want to do | Where to do it |
|---|---|
| See, change or cancel a subscription | Settings app → your name → Subscriptions → Sporta |
| Get a purchase back on a new or reset device | Sporta's settings → Restore Purchases, signed in to the same Apple Account |
| Ask for a refund | Apple, through its Report a Problem page or Apple Support |
| Update how you pay | Your Apple Account payment settings |
Cancellation and refunds
Canceling stops future renewals. You keep access to what you paid for until the end of the current billing period.
Apple processes every payment, so the developer never receives your payment details and cannot issue, approve or reverse refunds. Refund requests go to Apple, through its Report a Problem page or Apple Support, and Apple decides them under its own policies. If the law where you live gives you a right to cancel or withdraw from a purchase, that right is exercised through Apple too. When Apple grants a refund, access to the features it covered may end.
Neither deleting Sporta from your device nor deleting your Sporta account cancels a subscription. Cancel it with Apple first if you don't want to be billed again.
Acceptable use
Use Sporta and trysporta.com lawfully and for what they are built for: identifying, valuing and organizing sports cards. In particular, you agree not to:
- break any law or infringe anyone's rights through your use of Sporta;
- upload images that are unlawful or offensive, or that you have no right to use;
- access the app, its card catalog or its market data with bots, scrapers, scripts or other automated tools, or copy, resell or redistribute that data in bulk;
- try to get around purchases, security measures or access controls, or get into another person's account or our systems;
- interfere with the service, for example by overloading it or introducing malicious code;
- present Sporta's results to others as something they are not, such as passing off the AI pre-grade as an official grade or an AI identification as proof that a card or autograph is authentic;
- impersonate another person or misrepresent your connection to anyone.
Your photos and collection
You keep whatever rights you have in the photos you take and the collection you build, and we claim no ownership of them. To run Sporta, you give us a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to store, copy, process, transmit and display that content, and to pass it to service providers such as Google's Gemini AI, only as far as needed to provide, secure and support the service for you.
That license ends when you delete the content or your account, apart from copies that take a short time to clear from our providers' systems, as the Privacy Policy explains. By submitting a photo, you confirm that you have the right to use it.
When you share a card image through the iOS share sheet, you choose who receives it. What they do with it afterwards is between you and them.
AI results: identification, values and the pre-grade
Sporta combines AI analysis of your photos with third-party market data. Treat its results as a starting point for your own checks, not a guarantee.
Identification can be wrong
The AI reads the printed text and design of a card, and it can misread similar cards, parallels and reprints, or struggle with glare, blur and cropped photos. Before you rely on a result, and especially before you buy, sell, list or submit a card for grading, confirm the player, year, set, card number and variation against the card itself, with the back as your main reference. When Sporta shows a Similar Match, check it carefully before accepting it.
Values are estimates
Values are estimates drawn from recent sales supplied by a third-party market-data provider, converted into your chosen currency with daily exchange rates. Sales data can be incomplete or delayed, and it may not reflect your card's exact condition, variation or the buyer you actually find. A value in Sporta is not an appraisal and not an offer to buy. It is not financial, investment, tax or legal advice. Cards identified by AI but not yet in the catalog have no live market value.
The AI grade is not an official grade
The AI grade is an estimated pre-grade from photo analysis. It is not an official grade from PSA, BGS, SGC or any other grading company, and it does not predict or guarantee the grade a company would give. Lighting, glare, sleeves, holders and photo quality all affect it, and some surface flaws do not show up in photos at all.
What Sporta does not do
Sporta does not authenticate autographs, detect counterfeit or altered cards, or submit cards for grading. The decisions you make with its help, and their results, are yours.
Website guides are information, not advice
The guides on trysporta.com explain how to identify, value, grade, store and sell sports cards in general terms. They aim to be accurate, but they can go out of date and may not fit your situation. Example cards on the site are fictional and their values are illustrations. Nothing on the site is financial, investment or legal advice, or a professional grading opinion.
You are welcome to link to any page on the site. Copying or republishing its content in bulk needs our written permission.
Intellectual property
The Sporta app, the website, the Sporta name and logo, and the design, text, graphics and code behind them belong to us, Joseph AG., or to our licensors, and are protected by intellectual property law. These terms give you no rights in them beyond the license described above.
Names and trademarks of leagues, teams, players, card manufacturers, grading companies, Apple and Google belong to their respective owners. Sporta uses them only to describe and identify cards and to explain how the app works. Sporta is not affiliated with, sponsored by or endorsed by any league, team, player, manufacturer or grading company.
If you send us feedback or suggestions, we may use them to improve Sporta without any obligation to you.
Third-party services
Sporta depends on services run by other companies: Apple for the App Store, sign-in and billing; Google for Firebase, Google Sign-In and the Gemini API; RevenueCat and Superwall for purchases; Meta for ad measurement; Vercel for the website; and a sports-card market-data provider for the catalog and sales. Each is governed by its own terms. We are not responsible for how those services perform, or for the accuracy of information they supply.
Apple and the App Store
These terms are between you and Joseph AG., not Apple. Apple is not responsible for Sporta or its content, and it has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the app; support questions come to us. Joseph AG., not Apple, is responsible for addressing any claims about the app, including product liability claims, claims that it fails to meet a legal or regulatory requirement, claims under consumer protection or similar laws, and claims that it infringes someone's intellectual property.
If Sporta fails to meet a warranty that applies to it, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the app's purchase price, if there was one. To the extent the law allows, Apple has no other warranty obligation for the app. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.
Availability and changes to the service
Sporta needs an internet connection to scan, value and sync cards, and it needs a supported device: an iPhone on iOS 26.0 or later, an iPad on iPadOS 26.0 or later, or a Mac with Apple silicon on macOS 26.0 or later. These requirements may change with future updates.
Any mobile data charges from your carrier, including roaming charges when you use Sporta abroad, are your responsibility. We are not responsible when the app cannot work because of your connection or your device.
We may update Sporta, add or remove features, change which cards the catalog covers, pause the service for maintenance, or require you to install an update to keep using it. We may also stop offering Sporta altogether, and when we can, we will give reasonable notice in the app or on this website first.
Disclaimer of warranties
Sporta and trysporta.com are provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent the law allows, we make no warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement. We do not promise that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that any identification, value or estimated grade will be correct.
Some places do not allow certain warranties to be excluded. Where that is the case, these exclusions apply only as far as the law permits, and your statutory consumer rights are not affected.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, Joseph AG. is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data or lost goodwill, arising from your use of Sporta or the website. That includes losses from decisions you make relying on Sporta's identifications, values or estimated grades, such as a price you accept for a card, a card you buy, or a choice to send a card for grading or not.
Our total liability for any claim relating to Sporta is limited to the amount you paid for Sporta in the twelve months before the claim arose. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, such as liability for fraud.
Suspension and termination
You can stop using Sporta at any time. To close your account, tap Delete Account in the settings on Sporta's Profile tab; this permanently deletes your account and collection and cannot be undone. Remember that deleting the app or your account does not cancel an Apple subscription.
We may suspend or end your access if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms, misuse the service, put other users or Sporta at legal risk, or if the law requires it. Where it is reasonable to do so, we will tell you why first. When your access ends, your license ends with it. Sections that by their nature should continue, including ownership, disclaimers, limitation of liability and disputes, remain in effect.
Resolving disputes
If you have a problem with Sporta, please contact us before taking any other step. Email denw3n@gmail.com with a description of the issue and what you would like to happen. Both sides agree to try, in good faith, to resolve it informally, and we will reply and work toward a fair outcome within a reasonable time.
This does not take away any rights you have under the mandatory consumer protection laws of the place where you live.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as Sporta and the website change. The current version will always be on this page with its effective date at the top, and significant changes will also be pointed out in the app or on the website where practical. If you keep using Sporta after a change takes effect, the updated terms apply. If you don't accept them, stop using the app, cancel any subscription with Apple and delete your account.
General
These terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and us about Sporta and the website. If any part of these terms turns out to be unenforceable, the rest still applies. Our not enforcing a term right away does not mean we have given up the right to enforce it later. You may not transfer your rights under these terms to anyone else. We may transfer ours to someone who takes over Sporta, provided your rights under these terms are not reduced.
Contact
Questions about these terms can go to denw3n@gmail.com, or use Contact Us in Sporta's settings. The developer, Joseph AG., answers them personally. For quick answers about purchases, sign-in and scanning, see the support page.
